As part of AMD Data Center GPU organization, we are committed to delivering exceptional customer support and high-quality production ramp of our Instinct products. We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Customer System Development and Qualification to join our team and drive customer engagement and satisfaction throughout the design and production process. This is a critical leadership role that requires deep interaction with our partners and customers, ensuring their needs and feedback are integrated into our product design, enablement, co-validation and deployment phase.
THE PERSON: In this role, you will be responsible for leading and mentoring teams responsible for customer enablement, debug, triage, and co-validation. You will collaborate closely with internal teams, partners, and customers to ensure smooth integration, interoperability, and high-quality production ramp. Your expertise in AI systems, firmware development, and validation will be crucial in providing expert-level support during development and validation cycles and resolving any challenges that arise.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Team Leadership: Grow, lead, and mentor teams responsible for customer enablement, debug, triage, and co-validation. Foster close collaboration with internal system development, validation, and central engineering teams.
- Partner Enablement: Empower partners by ensuring smooth integration and assured interoperability with their host/head node system capabilities.
- Expert Customer Triage & Debug Support: Provide expert-level support during development, execution, and customer qualification cycles. Ensure timely resolution of any challenges to meet customer needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with silicon, SW, FW architects, post-silicon bring-up leaders, and validation experts to define and execute debug and customer co-engineering strategies.
- Functional areas include Inference and Training workload and software performance, GPU and system management (BMC) firmware, networking/switch, OS, kernel, drivers, security, telemetry, PCIe, memory, schedulers.
- Drive hands-on platform and SoC-level debug/validation, including complex stress testing, irritator-driven reproductions, and root cause analysis.
- Represent debug progress and insights with clarity and impact at the executive level, ensuring alignment and accountability across cross-functional teams.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence, while mentoring senior engineers and technical leaders.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in working with end customers and OEM/ODMs to support their design in up to production ramp phase.
- Prior experience in server systems and datacenter GPU architecture.
- Experience in firmware & hardware development, validation, and debugging.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading cross-functional teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster collaboration and drive consensus among various stakeholders.
- Multiple years of experience working directly with customers in a technical capacity. Experience communicating technical details of errata, explaining root cause and workarounds/fixes, and helping customers assess risk and impact.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
