Amazon MGM Studios seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to be a key member on our Theatrical Finance team. This role is an exciting opportunity to join Theatrical Finance where you will work side-by-side with business and finance leaders to develop business’ investment strategies, financial models, and analytical insights for our theatrical campaigns. Your analytical expertise will drive critical investment decisions and help oversee 14-16 motion pictures annually across the United States and Canada.

You will be a partner to the marketing and creative teams to establish best-in-class processes to transform theatrical financial operations and will be responsible for financial modeling and analysis, leading business reviews, and supporting strategic and financial planning for new business launches.

Key job responsibilities

Financial Analysis & Modeling:

  • Develop and implement scalable financial processes for domestic theatrical operations
  • Create comprehensive financial forecasts and models
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of marketing campaigns, focusing on investment optimization
  • Generate data-driven insights to inform strategic decision-making
  • Support scenario planning and trade-off analysis
  • Establish and maintain accrual model automation

Budget Management & Reporting:

  • Build and maintain scalable reports (forecast models, BI dashboards, standardized margin reports)
  • Manage and update budgets and forecasts
  • Manage global allocation models
  • Review marketing and distribution plans for alignment with global strategy

Month-End & Compliance:

  • Support monthly close process
  • Validate actuals against expectations
  • Reconcile month-end entries with Studio and Corporate accounting

Leadership Competencies:

  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations and contribute to strategy development
  • Developing influencing skills across various organizational levels
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Track record of standardizing and implementing process improvements
  • Ability to balance competing priorities and make effective trade-offs

About the team
Our finance team is a collaborative network of strategic thinkers who are passionate about supporting creative storytelling through rigorous financial insights. We work closely with marketing and creative teams to ensure financial strategies align with broader business objectives and artistic vision.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 3+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • Experience with cube engine tools (e.g. TM1, Cognos or Essbase), SQL and Data warehouse
  • Experience in identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes
  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
  • Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
  • Experience in the entertainment industry

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
