Amazon is seeking a Principal Strategic Business Development leader to join our international team in Seoul. This is a rare opportunity to shape strategic partnerships for AWS's most critical customers while driving pan-Amazon strategy from a centralized, high-impact role.
Key job responsibilities
As a Strategic Business Development Leader, you will be responsible for generating, managing, and executing some of Amazon's most complex and high impact partnership activities while having a strong technical aptitude to identify best in class partnerships for Amazon Web Services (AWS). This includes managing relationships and negotiations for partnership deals which are complex, need a centralized advocate, and/or have broader implications to AWS and other Amazon business units.
You will be required to handle multiple projects that may span a variety of business categories across all of Amazon. You will be forward-thinking and effectively negotiate terms that benefit AWS, Amazon and our customers.
This key role will be highly visible at the most senior levels of Amazon, and you will need to work collaboratively with internal management teams to understand where our relative advantages or risks lie. You will need to consider and communicate market feedback for product requirements impacting roadmaps, current trends around innovation, consolidation and customer adoption.
We dive deep and provide thoughtful analysis, but are adaptable and action-oriented, focused on quickly gaining enough context to enable informed decision-making. Executing strategic partnerships and customer alignment are our primary objectives.
A day in the life
We are seeking an innovative, creative, analytical, and strategic thinker who is passionate about Amazon, AWS, and the future of digital and physical technologies. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, and thrives in a fast-paced environment that is constantly evolving. Demonstrating strong negotiation skills is a critical component of this role.
This position requires deep understanding of AWS customers' businesses across multiple industries in Korea (e.g., telecommunications, retail, automotive, financial services) and knowledge of the Chaebol landscape.
Key responsibilities:
- Take the lead to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and manage partnerships that can involve marketing, content, commerce, and technology components
- Evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of partnerships
- Lead cross-functional teams including Product, Operations, Engineering, Legal, Finance, Tax, Accounting, and senior management to execute on the relationships
- Develop best practices to foster, manage, and track opportunities
- Support the strategic objectives and interests of AWS customers
