At Amazon, we’re inventing on behalf of customers, and with Amazon Leo, we’re redefining what global connectivity looks like. Our mission is to deliver fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world through a constellation of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. Every system we build helps connect people to education, healthcare, opportunity, and each other.
We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead Satellite Mechanical, Analysis, and Launch Vehicle Integration. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, mechanical design, and analysis contributing to the overall system architecture. The role owns complex programs that ultimately become part of the LEO satellite infrastructure powering global connectivity.
In this role, you will act as the end-end Sr. TPM for Design, Bus Structures, and analysis. Your TPM leadership will drive delivery of complex projects involving system architecture, thermal design, mechanical design, reliability design, bus structures, mechanical launch vehicle integration, manufacturing, and test. You'll develop integrated plans, drive execution, and remove blockers to enable teams to deliver faster and with higher quality. Your ability to see around corners and proactively manage dependencies and risks will be critical to our success.
This is an individual contributor role with broad organizational influence. You’ll drive alignment and execution leveraging your technical domain knowledge, strong program management fundamentals, and trusted partnerships.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end Satellite Design and Mechanical Systems programs from concept through production, managing initiatives that span multiple engineering disciplines and directly impact Leo's satellite constellation deployment.
  • Partner closely with engineering driving engineering trades and technical solutions. (system, sub-system, and component level)
  • Develop structured risk management approaches, maintaining a high bar of accountability across design and production teams to ensure program commitments are met.
  • Develop integrated schedules, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs in a high-speed, high-complexity, agile environment.
  • Apply understanding of concept of operations, system budgets, CAD, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), structural analysis, configuration management and change control for mission-critical Satellite Design and Mechanical Systems.
  • Translate engineering concepts into executable plans.
  • Ensure successful mechanical launch vehicle integration and deliverables.
  • Formulate plans with engineering and manufacturing for new product introductions including DFM, manufacturing processes, test strategies, and automated test system development.
  • Drive cross-team alignment on ownership, sequencing, and delivery while adapting quickly as conditions change, ensuring deliverables meet customer, mission and program requirements.

Export Control Requirement:

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the development of structural systems and analysis for aerospace applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to engage in technical discussions with engineering to reach optimum system level trades and drive technical solutions
  • Proven track record managing complex programs at scale, including building execution plans, defining success metrics, mitigating risk, and driving cross-functional alignment with interdisciplinary stakeholders
  • Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Proven ability to deal effectively with ambiguity while leading in a high-speed, agile environment.
  • Proven leadership skills to lead team(s) without direct authority
  • Experience in static, dynamic and modal structural analysis via finite element methods
  • Experience in CAD systems with appropriate geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience supporting development and qualification test campaigns of space/flight hardware
  • Direct knowledge of requirements for launching spacecraft on launch vehicles
  • Experience with manufacturing test strategies, test methods and automation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
