The Area/Shift Manager is a tactical management position based at an Amazon Fulfilment Centre, responsible for leading teams of 50–70 employees, ranging from T1 Associates to T3 Operations Supervisors. This role combines hands-on leadership with strategic process improvement, requiring managers to lead by example while ensuring safety, quality standards, and operational excellence across all FC functions — including Pick, Pack, Rebin, and Ship Dock operations.
Base Salary Range : 80,000 - 88,000 AUD per year
- Key job responsibilities
- Take ownership of running a major department within the Fulfilment Centre, managing all operational processes from monitoring and control to team leadership
- Drive proactive team engagement through daily stand-ups, roundtables, and regular performance check-ins with associates and supervisors
- Measure and ensure sufficient staffing and capacity across process paths to support peak-time fulfilment demands
- Assist and work alongside Operation Manager to review performance appraisals of Operations Supervisors, and mentor them for efficient FC operations
- Continuously improve throughput across FC process paths and sustain a high level of fulfilment performance
- Understand different process paths and quality metrics to ensure customer orders are picked, packed, and shipped quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively
- Review and analyse data reports to identify performance bottlenecks and implement targeted improvements
- Research and apply formal process control and improvement mechanisms such as Kaizen and Lean techniques
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and quality requirements across all FC departments
- Deliver results while recommending improvements to tools, processes, and team workflows
- Work independently on both day-to-day FC operations and continuous improvement projects
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of employee and performance management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Can push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement or lean techniques experience
