Amazon has exciting opportunities for leaders in Operations Management within our rapidly expanding Sub Same Day (SSD) network in Japan. Our dynamic environment offers candidates significant challenges in front-line management and driving scalable, continuous improvements across our fulfillment centers, supply chain, and last-mile delivery teams.
As SSD Site Operational Excellence Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse team of leaders with the objectives to pursue variation reduction, optimize standard work to reduce cost, and build mechanisms to drive compliance toward the standards. You will be responsible for the prioritization of efforts within a region to reduce variation from the standards and ultimately improve process control and performance. This role requires the ability to insist on the highest standards for process execution, interpret data, and lead through influence to deliver meaningful results translating to tangible productivity and efficiency gains across your region.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Evaluate performance objectives and metrics across your region to proactively identify process improvement opportunities and largest gaps to benchmark performance supporting prioritization efforts for improvement opportunities.
  • Work backwards to develop clear roadmaps/milestones of how your region will exceed cost commitments across material process paths.
  • Audit, teach, and drive execution to the benchmark standards while acting as a catalyst for continuous improvement and project deployment in your region.
  • Partner with regional leaders to execute implementation of Standard Operating Procedures and process improvements driving stabilization and standardization across your region.
  • Execute, measure and support communication of project impacts in partnership with the site leaders responsible for day to day operations.
  • Think big and have the front-line operational skills to identify and implement solutions that scale.
  • Coaching leaders and ensuring all process stakeholders are up to speed with system related changes.
  • Objectively analyze complex situations and execute on immediate and time-bound action items.
  • Motivate and influence individuals of all levels to deliver results on complex objectives.

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8-hour a day / Standard hours: 9 AM - 6 PM (flexible based on business needs)
  • Work Location
  • Tokyo
    Temporary initial work location will be Machida, Tokyo during training and preparation for the role.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Transportation, Mathematics, Economics, Physics or another technical field
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
  • Intermediate level written and oral communication skills in English
