Alexa Shopping team located in Bangalore is looking for a Software Development Manager to lead engineering efforts for Shopping List, Grocery, and Product Evaluation experiences. This is an opportunity to join our mission to build AI-powered shopping experiences that help millions of customers save time and money every day.
You will lead a team that leverages Generative AI to build features that anticipate what customers need before they ask, help them evaluate products with confidence, and make grocery shopping effortless across Echo devices, Alexa App, and Alexa.com. Your work will directly impact executive-level goals and shape how hundreds of millions of customers shop worldwide.
We operate in a high-performance co-located agile ecosystem where SDEs, SDMs, and Product Managers frequently connect with end customers. Our engineering team significantly influences product roadmap, contributes to PRFAQs, and creates disproportionate impact through innovative technology. We operate like a start-up within the Amazon ecosystem, pioneering products and services that are new to Amazon with opportunities to scale globally.
- Key job responsibilities
- Build and manage a team of industry-leading software engineers focused on GenAI-powered shopping experiences
- Foster career growth and a strong team culture centered on innovation and customer obsession
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff
- Partner with Product Management, Design, Science, and Business teams to define and execute product strategy for Shopping List, Grocery, and Product Evaluation features
- Drive the technical vision and architecture for AI/ML-powered shopping experiences at scale
- Own all operational metrics and support for your team's software across Echo devices, Alexa App, and Alexa.com
- Manage the agile development process to deliver incremental value to customers
- Work with product management to develop long-term architectural and business strategy
- Champion experimentation and rapid innovation in service of customers
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
