As Senior Manager, Spoken Word, you will be the local leader responsible for growing Amazon Music’s spoken word business across podcasts and audiobooks in the German market. This role owns how spoken word shows up for customers — from discovery and engagement to long-term listening — and how Amazon Music partners with creators, publishers, and the wider audio industry in Germany.
This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys building in ambiguity, influencing across teams, and balancing creative partnerships with commercial and customer outcomes. We are looking for a leader or manager with deep experience in podcasts, audiobooks, or adjacent audio/media businesses, and a strong understanding of the German spoken word landscape. You will own both strategy and execution, and be accountable for delivering results in a fast-moving, evolving category.
Location preference: Munich. Berlin open for consideration.
- Key job responsibilities
- Own the overall Spoken Word strategy for Germany, spanning podcasts and audiobooks, and translate global priorities into clear local plans, goals, and execution.
- Act as the senior market leader for Spoken Word in Germany, building and maintaining deep relationships with top creators, publishers, networks, and industry partners to grow listening and engagement on Amazon Music.
- Drive audience growth by identifying opportunities across content, product, and marketing — and working cross-functionally to turn those opportunities into delivered outcomes.
- Partner closely with global and regional teams across Amazon Music, Product, Content, Creator Marketing, Industry Relations, Audible, PR, and Analytics to ensure a cohesive, data-informed approach.
- Use customer and performance data to guide decisions, while being comfortable making judgment calls where data is incomplete or signals are mixed.
- Oversee high-impact initiatives such as creator partnerships, launches, campaigns, and industry moments that meaningfully move awareness, trust, and consumption of spoken word audio.
- Represent Amazon Music Spoken Word in Germany externally, shaping narratives with press and industry stakeholders and advocating for Amazon’s strategic priorities.
- Serve as the voice of the German market internally, surfacing opportunities, risks, and learnings to inform broader spoken word strategy and roadmap decisions.
A day in the life
You’ll operate at the intersection of content, product, marketing, and partnerships, translating global strategy into local execution that drives measurable listener growth. This is a highly visible role with broad ownership: you’ll set direction, represent Spoken Word externally, and work closely with senior stakeholders across Amazon to shape how podcasts and audiobooks come together as a single, compelling customer experience.
