DEX defines, builds, launches and manages customer-facing delivery programs and features across all of Amazon, including Prime 2-day shipping, Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery, One-Day Shipping, No Rush, Free Shipping over $25, and inventions yet to come. We own systems that power retail delivery (both customer-facing and back-end), leveraging company-wide technology solutions or designing them from the ground up. Together, DEX is changing how customers experience delivery – from the speed, convenience, and selection features they see on the site every day, to launching Prime delivery benefits and other new programs to customers around the world.
Some info about this team:

• Our mission is to provide consistent, accurate, and relevant delivery information to every single page on every Amazon-owned site, which means millions of customers WW will be impacted by your contributions,
• The changes we make directly impact the customer experience on Amazon websites on numerous platforms (mobile/tablets, desktop, set-top boxes, etc.),
• This is a highly visible and very critical role, owning multiple tier 1 services,
• We are setting up a new team in the Hyderabad Development Center and you have the opportunity of being a founding member of the team.
  Ideal candidate must have demonstrated:
• Technical credibility to lead teams of world-class software engineers. Must be able to make the right design decisions related to product features and technology choices,
• Deep understanding of overall systems development life cycle including various methodologies (agile, waterfall, iterative),
• Experienced in building and managing teams that design and deliver scalable and extensible distributed systems to address complex business challenges.
  A day in the life

Software Development Manager will:

• Drive prioritization and planning of projects and features,
• Facilitate the design of the architecture of these distributed and highly scalable systems to solve complex problems,
• Monitor, validate, and own operation of production services,
• Think big and work with leadership, cross teams and business stakeholders to define vision, strategy and roadmap,
• Own the inputs and the business outcome through cultivating a culture of relentless auditing and metric monitoring, automatically where possible,
• Set clear, measurable quality goals for the organization and collaborate across orgs to drive achieving them,
• Mentor and promote team members and help leaders to grow the organization.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience
• 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams
• Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
• Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
• Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree
