We are seeking an innovative, results-oriented, and customer obsessed business development leader to join our team. The successful candidate will become a trusted advisor to Amazon leaders and a subject matter expert on consumer mobile experiences in Japan. You will develop relationships and establish the cross-organizational structure between Amazon and our partners. We expect this leader to operate at all levels both strategically and tactically. The key mission of the position: ensure continuous improvement of the customer experience, achieve business objectives, and develop partner relationships to drive new growth for Amazon Prime.
This role will be highly visible at senior levels of Amazon in Japan and the US. You will work closely with key internal decision makers to develop strategies that expand their presence in Japan and you will negotiate deals to achieve their goals.
- Key job responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, negotiate, and close bespoke agreements with key partners
- Manage senior-level partner relationships
- Define performance measures and manage programs to achieve targets
- Lead cross-functional Amazon teams on partner initiatives
- Coordinate with other Amazon business development teams to present a unified vision to our partners
- Understand the business plans and priorities of various Amazon business units such as Prime, Retail categories, Video, Kindle, and Music and be able to articulate Amazon’s vision, services, and value propositions to customers and partners
About the team
The Amazon Japan Prime team delights customers by offering shipping benefits and digital benefits such as Prime Video, Amazon Music Prime, and Amazon Fresh. We aim to create simple and frictionless customer experiences through collaborative partnerships with leading companies in the Japan mobile and consumer spaces. Our goal is to relentlessly increase customer satisfaction and deliver program benefits to more Japanese consumers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals
- Experience in business analysis and functional roles requiring quantitative, analytical and organizational skills
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to earn trust of senior management and external executives
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level
- Proven experience in corporate development, corporate business development, investment banking, or venture investing in a corporate or financial services environment
- Experience in consumer tech or mobile
- Effective and collaborative communication and writing skills, with the ability to customize approach for a variety of audiences ranging from senior executives to junior resources
- Bias for action and able to work independently through high ambiguity toward stated goals
