Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced professional to join our dynamic team, focusing on colocation and real estate projects to expand our data center footprint across Australia and Asia. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape AWS's future by identifying and securing high-value locations that meet the rigorous power, latency, and capacity requirements of the world's largest cloud infrastructure provider.
Job Overview:
As a Data Center Site Selection specialist, you will undertake strategic site selection initiatives for AWS data centers across Australia and the Asia region. You will:

Undertake site selection for data center developments, including land acquisitions and build-to-suit/powered-shell projects. You will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, legal, and finance, to identify and negotiate real estate transactions for data center projects that meet the ever-increasing demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence; and

Identify colocation opportunities and negotiate technical, financial and legal aspects of the deals.
The role will be the single point of escalation for multiple internal stakeholders, technical teams, legal, and finance to resolve conflicts and set expectations. You should have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions. A successful candidate will have the aptitude to strategically plan, make decisions, act tactically, write effectively, and display strong analytical and critical thinking skills. You must be a proven problem solver, and possess the ability to influence across functions. As this position involves direct interactions with senior industry executives and AWS leaders, you must have a professional demeanor, strong business acumen, and be able to communicate ideas in a clear and articulate manner.
- Key job responsibilities
- Undertake end-to-end site selection for data center developments across APAC, including land acquisitions and build-to-suit/powered-shell projects
- Structure and negotiate contracts and real estate transactions
- Develop and communicate clear, data-driven strategies for AWS infrastructure growth
- Collaborate deeply with internal teams (Energy, Fiber, Engineering, Construction, Legal, Finance) to ensure successful project delivery
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential sites, including power availability, connectivity options, and environmental considerations
- Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including utility providers, and property owners
- Oversee financial modeling and analysis to support investment decisions
- Dive deep into detail of areas outside your core expertise
The candidate must possess the following skills:
- Strong experience in the Australian industrial real estate or data center markets
- Proven track record of successfully completing large-scale real estate or colocation transactions
- Strong written communication, financial modeling and investment analysis skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple teams and disciplines
- Excellence in diving deep into technical details across various disciplines
- Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency in analyzing power infrastructure and utility requirements
- Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn about technical aspects beyond real estate
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors degree or equivalent in Business, Finance, Engineering, Law, Real Estate or related field
- 8+ years of experience in green field site selection, colocation business development, or commercial/industrial real estate, with significant experience in data center
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of data center infrastructure design, operations, or delivery
- Direct experience in data center industry, including with hyperscale data center developments and colocation contract negotiations
- Multilingual capabilities (particularly Asian languages) are a plus
