Amazon seeks a Finance Manager to join the Books Finance team. The successful candidate will be analytical, curious about the Books space with a demonstrated ability to guide and influence business partners. The role operates in a fast-paced, global, results-oriented environment, and will provide decision support and advice for key business leaders.

The Books team (Books + Kindle Content) is looking for a results-oriented and data-driven professional to lead the finance function for the Books Pricing, Payment, and Incentive team. This position will work closely alongside a team of world-class business leaders through new development initiatives, opportunities, strategy and inventing ways to meet new customers and deliver demand acceleration projects.

The role requires an individual with a passion for books, the ability to dive deep into the data to derive business insights, and strong focus on controllership and efficiency. He or she will work closely with marketing team leadership to provide strategic guidance, as well as overall finance, operational and decision support in this exciting and evolving space. This individual will be a role model for high standards, problem solving, operational discipline, driving business insight/innovation, partnering with cross functional teams, and developing scalable processes. The role demands ambitious individuals with solid analytical skills, the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, a strong bias for action, superb customer focus, and the ability to communicate with and influence senior business leadership.

  • Lead financial planning and forecasting, including developing and implementing standardized financial reports across multiple businesses.

  • Implement and drive the core financial processes for the business including Operating Plans, Long Term Plans, and Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews.

  • Develop ad hoc business analysis and present recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions

  • Develop and maintain key weekly financial and operational performance metrics, including creation of KPIs

  • Support FP&A process, headcount tracking and goals tracking. Review existing processes and streamline for efficiency; set up tools and dashboards for leadership with relevant metrics.

  • Conduct ad hoc financial analyses and new project evaluations

  • Lead and participate as the key finance stakeholder in cross functional teams

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
  • 3+ years of advanced proficiency in Excel (pivots, lookups, etc.) experience
  • 6+ years of Accounts Receivable or Account Payable experience
  • 6+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience
  • 6+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience
  • 6+ years of creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience
  • 5+ years of directly managing and leading a team of 5+ members experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience
  • 6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
  • 6+ years of mentoring junior finance and/or business team members experience
  • 3+ years of working with senior staff (e.g. c-suite) experience
  • MBA, or CPA
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (i.e. SQL, MSAccess, Essbase or Cognos) and providing recommendations based on results of ad hoc analyses to management for strategic decision-making

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
