We are looking for a passionate engineer to work on the development of Tier-1 services for Alexa Cloud. You and your team will own Privacy incident response including deletion of customer data associated with the incident and deletion verification. You will also be responsible for systems that are designed to prevent violations.

Key job responsibilities
You will lead the design, development, testing and deployment of cross team projects, meet with stakeholders, drive execution, and mentor junior engineers. You will be an independent technical leader, capable of working on your own and guiding team members to navigate complex problems. In this role, you will lead and architect cloud services which will streamline connectivity between Alexa-enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. You will influence architecture across the Alexa ecosystem and play a pivotal role in designing the future of Alexa. You will lead projects to streamline team processes and create mechanisms to effectively deliver projects

A day in the life
You will be the technical leader responsible for service design, development, and operations. You will brainstorm new ideas and work on forward looking architectures and design with Principal Engineers and other Senior Software Engineers. You will architect, analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy software features and fix defects. You will participate and lead in sprint planning and daily scrum, break down technical work, identify technical blockers, and navigate solutions. You will mentor team members. You will partner with your managers, other technical leaders across the org to achieve a desired technical consensus. You will author docs to communicate vision, proposals and designs.

About the team
The mission of the Alexa Connectivity teams is to deliver a low latency, low cost, highly reliable, and high scalable connectivity between Alexa enabled devices and Alexa Cloud. The changes we make, improves the speed and reliability experienced by end customers when interacting with Alexa devices, and simplifies experience for developers and rest of Alexa by abstracting the connection management from them. The team handles tens of billions of transactions per day. We are cold starting this team in Bangalore. This is a highly visible role to get in the inception phase setup your team, transition the project, define the roadmap, build new features, and operate multiple tier-1 Cloud Services. The ideal candidate is excited about the incredible opportunity that Alexa and Cloud represent, and is passionate about delivering high-quality services in a hyper-growth environment. Our newest leader will be customer-centric, enjoy working on complex software problems, possess analytical and problem-solving skills.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
