Amazon’s Geospatial and Delivery Success team within Last Mile improves internal and external customer experience by architecting and operationalizing systems that assist the transporters in real-time on the road as well as enable large scale data processing based insight generation. These complex systems will provide optimization and enforce efficiency in parcel delivery that will continue to challenge the norms of transportation technology.

Our teams have recognized the delivery defects for Amazon deliveries and launches multiple solutions spanning across GenAI models, agentic framework, customer facing tools while scaling for billions of deliveries. If you are a Software Development Manager that enjoys working in an ever-evolving environment alongside solving complex problems with simplified solutions, the Geospatial team is waiting for YOU.

You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to create a roadmap, align with business partners on prioritization, propose appropriate tradeoffs, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.

Key job responsibilities
-Responsible for the over-all systems development life cycle of key product sub-systems
-Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
-Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
-Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team
-Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
-Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to management

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
