We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support the development of Prime Air drone avionics hardware and related systems. In this role you will be working to develop, mature and document designs, test and qualify avionics components, and work with external vendors to support manufacturing.

Export Control License: This position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf

Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate will help the team in the following ways:

  • Lead mechanical design of new components for the program.
  • Develop hardware and component level requirements/specifications.
  • Oversee and participate in testing and qualifying mechanical subsystems including DO-160.
  • Support and update existing mechanical designs and processes.
  • Find creative technical approaches to encourage frugality and to invent and simplify.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience in planning and execution of testing mechanical systems.
  • Experience with CAD software for use in design, drafting, and product lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume.
  • Experience in electronics and/or aerospace hardware.
  • CATIA/ENOVIA experience.
  • DO-160 qualification and aerospace formal verification experience.
  • Experience with requirements development and documentation.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
