This role is for a Principal, Strategy and Planning (aka Chief of Staff), and will report to VP of Device Software and Services. This senior leader will own the rhythm of business for the VP's organization and partner with the VP and his leadership team to design and implement fit for purpose mechanisms that scale. The role has a mix of strategic, programmatic, and operational responsibilities, is inherently cross-functional, and requires high judgement and context switching. The role has significant exposure to senior leaders across Amazon's Devices and Services business. Success in this role means you become the "connective tissue" up, down, and across the organization to enable you to be a force multiplier.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Shepherd and write annual operating plan and other strategy, roadmap, and business review docs
  • Partner with Finance on annual financial plan and other financial reporting requirements
  • Drive annual planning, roadmap prioritization, goal setting, and other rhythm of business activities
  • Identify organizational pain points and opportunities for efficiency and improvement
  • Design, implement, and refine mechanisms that scale globally and are fit for purpose locally
  • Build effective relationships up, down, and across organizations

About the team
Device Software and Services is a horizontal technical organization that own software systems and programs that are foundational to Amazon's portfolio of devices from Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, and Echo, to Ring, Blink, and eero. We build core capabilities that are leveraged at scale.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
  • Experience in verbal and written communication for executive level leaders
  • Experience leading strategic and financial planning for large organizations

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
