AWS Hardware Engineering seeks a senior leader to drive development, implementation, and reliability for storage server systems powering EC2 and EBS services. You will own roadmap definition in partnership with product managers, executing at high velocity to deliver timely solutions that meet internal and external customer requirements. Leading cross-functional teams, you will deliver innovative hardware designs from concept through manufacturing, deployment, maturation, and lifecycle management while maintaining zero-defect quality standards that directly enable customer workloads. You will manage a team of hardware and software engineers, as well as technical program managers.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end storage server development lifecycle from inception through deprecation
  • Drive proactive hardware defect prevention and resolution strategies to achieve zero-defect quality
  • Hire, develop and manage a team of hardware engineers, software engineers, and technical program managers
  • Define and execute implementation strategies for novel storage server designs
  • Oversee ODM partnerships and manufacturing relationships to ensure delivery excellence
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across EC2, EBS, and other AWS services
  • Provide regular status reporting and strategic updates to senior leadership
  • Plan and execute hardware roadmaps that anticipate future customer and business needs
  • Ensure storage server solutions meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements for AWS scale

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in managing system or software development teams
  • Experience in system-level integration
  • Experience prioritizing and delivering projects on time in a fast-moving environment
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Technical experience in compute and/or storage systems design, deployment and production operations.
  • Hands-on experience in designing, developing and operationally supporting high volume enterprise servers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of managing system or software development teams experience
  • Experience in working with CM/OEM/ODM vendors for design development and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of data-center infrastructure constraints including networking, power, space, and cooling.
  • Experience with server NPI and product lifecycle in fast paced environment
  • Proven success using written communications to influence product strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and influencing senior executives.
  • High attention to detail including precise and effective customer communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience developing senior leaders

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
