Amazon is one of the largest employers on the planet with hundreds of thousands of employees across the globe. Our People Experience and Technology (PXT) organization is seeking a Software Development Engineer for a talented engineering team focused on innovation. PXT’s mission is to build a workplace for Amazonians to invent and deliver on behalf of our customers. We enable Amazon to scale quickly and efficiently as we continue to expand rapidly across countries, business lines and size of business. Our human resource transactions are massive in volume, and diverse in range.

As a Sr. Software Development Engineer, you should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be self-driven, and have a demonstrated track record of delivering high quality results, in a highly ambiguous, green-field environment. You should be a passionate, results-oriented, experienced software developer. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a relentless focus on the customer experience and want to build something new rather than maintaining code written by someone else, then this role is for you. Successful candidates will be leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. PXT business requires creative engineering balanced with high quality and customer focus.

Professional traits that are not unique to this position, but necessary for Amazon leaders:

  • Thinks big.
  • Result oriented.
  • Exhibits excellent judgment.
  • Expects innovation from themselves and their team.
  • Has relentlessly high standards and is never satisfied with the status quo.
  • Has passion for good engineering with the ability to inspire the same in others.
  • Can dive deep and stay in touch with the details of our business and technology.

Key job responsibilities

  • As a Sr. Software Development Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including research new use cases, address existing defects, clarify requirements, design, develop, document, test, and manage software and systems.
  • For this role you will collaborate with People with Disabilities (PWD) to understand pain points, synthesize requirements and create accessible solutions.
  • You will apply your knowledge and experience of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies available within Amazon and the industry at large to innovate.
  • You will research problem spaces and develop solutions that require Spatial Computing (AR/VR).
  • You will develop 3D rendered solutions for all Amazonians.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams
  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
