Ship Tech Analytics (STA) is on a mission to revolutionize Amazon's global transportation network through data-driven innovation and artificial intelligence. Our vision is to be the central nervous system of Amazon's transportation operations, providing real-time insights, diagnostive analytics, and AI-powered decision-making capabilities that drive operational excellence across the network.
As an SDE 2 on our core team, you'll contribute to building and scaling mission-critical data products that power worldwide operations business decisions. In this role, you'll apply strong technical skills to design and implement scalable solutions that process high volume of data daily, serving diverse user personas from front-line operators to corporate leadership. You'll work on complex problems at scale, maintaining high operational standards while contributing to innovation in both traditional analytics and AI/ML domains. These engineers will grow to provide the technical leadership to the team, drive best practices, mentor other engineers, and drive continuous improvements in engineering excellence. This position offers opportunities to develop your technical expertise, take on increasing leadership responsibilities, and make meaningful impact on systems that drive business-critical decisions across the organization.
- Key job responsibilities
- You independently own and deliver complex technical projects with minimal guidance. You write high-quality code and design scalable solutions that meet team goals.
- You provide technical guidance to junior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming. You share best practices and help elevate the technical skills of your teammates.
- You partner effectively with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions. You contribute to technical discussions and help build consensus on design decisions.
- You follow and advocate for effective development processes. You write well-tested code with minimal defects and contribute to system reliability and operational excellence.
- You proactively identify technical risks and dependencies, escalating them appropriately with proposed solutions. You communicate technical concepts clearly, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences including engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.
- You understand your team's goals and contribute to technical strategy discussions. You make sound technical decisions within your scope of ownership and align your work with broader team objectives.
- As you grow in this role, you will provide technical leadership to the team, drive best practices, mentor other engineers, and drive continuous improvements in engineering excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
