- Middle Mile is seeking a Risk Specialist to assist with identity verification and fraud mitigation for daily freight movements flowing into and out of our North American fulfillment centers and our associated fulfillment network. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a huge growth area for Amazon.
Amazon is looking for a Risk Specialist to work with large scale data, building deep dive reports, dynamic visualizations and dashboards for end-user consumption. Moreover, the candidate should have the ability in using advance excel, knowledge about some scripting language and statistics, to drive complex insights and analysis. In this role the Risk Specialist will supporting strategic initiatives and operational improvements by finding & analyzing data, identifying trends, and translating business needs into actionable insights.

Key job responsibilities

Write queries, compile data, and generate reports utilizing technologies such as RedShift, RDS (MySQL, MSSQL), Spectrum, and ETL.

Tell a story based off the data, propose insights, and see actions through to the finish on those insights

Interacting with business stakeholders, gathering requirements and developing complex analytics model and data-sets for deep dive

Identifying the data quality issues across the various platforms at Amazon

Extracting and combining data from various heterogeneous data sources

Design and build data visualization tools to provide scalable solution for self-service metrics reporting

Understand the business impact of the trends and make decisions that make sense based on available data

Knowledge to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams

Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs, while measuring and identifying activities performed

Written and verbal communication experience, as you will be required to create a narrative outlining your weekly findings, and present these finding in a review forum

Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments as necessary

Partner with cross functional teams across Amazon for collaboration on fraud risks and investigations

Apply risk management best practices to mitigate issues, identify operational inefficiencies
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 2+ years of work experience in logistics/transportation industry
- Experience working on identity verification/ fraud detection processes
- Knowledge of MS Excel at an advanced level, including: pivot tables, macros, index/match, vlookup, VBA, data links, etc.
- Experience creating complex SQL queries joining multiple datasets, ETL DW concepts
- Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets and ability to navigate and interpret data through SQL
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge in data and experience spotting trends and fixing gaps
- Knowledge using data to drive root cause elimination and process improvement
- Data management & data quality control experience with experience pulling and analyzing large sets of data
- Experience with reporting and Data Visualization tools such as Quick Sight / Tableau / Power BI or other BI packages
- Minimum 1 year experience working with AWS / Quicksight tools
- Knowledge of Python, VBA, Macros, Selenium scripts
- Experience using Python or R for data analysis or statistical tools such as SAS
