Amazon is seeking an experienced communications professional with a strong track record in media relations and issues management to support our business in the UK. We are looking for a self-motivated Media Relations Manager who can thrive in a fast-paced news environment.

The successful candidate will work within Amazon UK Corporate Communications and be an integral member of the team responsible for day-to-day operations of the UK Press Office.
In this pivotal role, you'll be responsible for managing queries from journalists, lead on media relations initiatives, and provide ongoing strategic counsel to senior leaders.

This role requires someone who has excellent news sense, can confidently advise and build relationships with internal stakeholders, navigate complex issues, and maintain high-judgment and attention to detail when managing multiple priorities in narrow timeframes.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Manage UK media queries - working across multiple cross-functional business teams to respond to questions from journalists.
  • Provide strategic counsel – advising business leaders and PR colleagues on communications.
  • Media relations - supporting the business and Corporate Communications team build and maintain relationships with key UK journalists and third parties.
  • Press Office management – supporting day-to-day Press Office projects, including media training, messaging, media training, and tracking.
  • Proactive story-telling – ad hoc executional support on Corporate Communications campaigns.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in professional communications or public relations
  • Proven track record of managing complex media queries and issues
  • Demonstrated experience managing media contacts and national news desks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and work effectively in a fast-paced, reactive environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with internal stakeholders in a complex organization
  • Demonstrated strong ability to provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on issues
  • Knowledge of UK media landscape
