At Amazon, we're passionate about pushing the boundaries of AI and natural language processing. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, experienced, creative, and visionary Sr. SDE to join our team. As an SDE III on the Alexa Proactive team within the Alexa AI organization, you'll have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that combine Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI to create more intuitive and responsive conversational experiences.
You will be responsible for leading the development and launch of core product features. You will have significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.
In this role, you'll collaborate with a diverse team of experts to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques that advance the state of the art in multimodal systems. You'll leverage Amazon's vast data resources and computing power to accelerate development and drive innovation. Your contributions will help define our overall strategy, from data enrichment and model optimization to system architecture and best practices.
Key job responsibilities
- Use technical breadth to define the solution architecture and technical design needed to implement high volume (billions of messages per day) and highly available systems (99.95%+).
- Dive deep to decompose designs into manageable units of work that can be scoped and parallelized into workstreams.
- Collaborate on data governance strategies, data enrichment, ML model optimization, and system evaluations.
- Drive system architecture decisions and establish best practices and a culture of AI adoption in your org
- Lead cross-functional teams to launch new features for Alexa products world-wide
- Present knowledge sharing session, coach and mentor team mates to help "develop the best"
- Bar raise the quality of technology solutions on your team and partner with Principal Engineers to instill an org-wide culture of operational excellence
- A day in the life
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
