The Opportunity
Allegro is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Failure Analysis Technician/Engineer to join our Quality team. In this critical, hands-on laboratory role, you will be a key investigator, responsible for determining the root cause of failures in materials and products from our assembly, test, and external customer returns. Your findings will directly contribute to our process and product improvement initiatives, ensuring Allegro maintains its commitment to the highest standards of quality and reliability. This is an excellent opportunity for a technical professional who is passionate about problem-solving and using advanced laboratory equipment to uncover critical insights.
What You Will Do

Perform Hands-On Failure Analysis: Conduct in-depth failure analysis on materials and products that do not meet specified requirements or standards, using a variety of advanced techniques and equipment.

Utilize Advanced Analytical Equipment:
Perform electrical test verification using a curve tracer.

Conduct detailed imaging and analysis with X-ray (2D & 3D/CT), Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM), and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) for microstructural analysis.

Utilize Electron Dispersive X-ray (EDX) for elemental analysis.

Perform microscopic analysis using optical microscopes (both low and high power).

Execute Sample Preparation:
Perform physical micro-sectioning and various decapsulation methods (Laser, Chemical, Mechanical) to access and inspect internal components.
- Document & Report Findings:
Use photomicrography or digital imaging to meticulously document FA results.

Write comprehensive Failure Analysis (FA) reports detailing your findings and conclusions.

Analyze reliability and functional test failure data to identify root causes and help resolve problems.

Drive Laboratory Improvement:
Evaluate and develop new procedures and systems for the Failure Analysis Laboratory.

Review and revise specifications and manuals applicable to laboratory operations.

Manage Laboratory Supplies:
Conduct regular inventory of chemicals, apparatus, and other laboratory supplies, and recommend purchases for items running low to ensure operational readiness.
What Will You Bring?

A graduate of Electronics or Chemical Technology, or a related Chemistry course.

Proven hands-on experience in Failure Analysis Laboratory work.

Proficiency with computers and ability to operate various laboratory equipment.
