DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service & Sales

Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.

Assist customers by making product suggestions and filling special orders.

Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, intercom, and direct interaction.

Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director as needed.

Operate electronic cash register, total customer transactions, accept payment, and provide correct change.
Food & Beverage Preparation
-
Oversee all department duties, including preparation, brewing, serving, and packaging of food and beverage items.

Implement proper and efficient preparation and packaging techniques.
-
Brew coffee and tea to company standards.
-
Maintain hot and cold food items to required temperature and quality standards.
-
Ensure proper layout, flow, and execution of coffee bar procedures.
-
Use and operate kitchen utensils and equipment, including: conventional/microwave ovens, coffee grinders, espresso machines, blenders, printers, pallet jacks, and other food‑service tools.
Department Operations & Merchandising
-
Plan daily operations and monitor production processes to ensure adherence to company procedures and profitability.

Maintain case cleanliness, visual appeal, and proper signage and pricing.
-
Build displays, rotate products, and remove outdated or spoiled items.
-
Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
-
Understand and follow opening and closing department procedures.
-
Ensure temperatures are properly maintained in all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
Employee Leadership & Training
-
Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.

Train employees on store policies, sales practices, and record‑keeping procedures.
-
Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
-
Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
-
Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.

Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
Inventory, Receiving & Reporting
-
Control inventory to ensure proper quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain inventory levels according to division directives.

Stock, rotate, and organize product in the cooler and storage areas.
-
Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, and rotate product.
-
Adhere to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
-
Prepare sales and inventory reports; complete physical inventory every 4 weeks.
-
Complete and monitor daily log sheets, Production Logs, Par Charts, Sales & Labor reports, and required paperwork.
-
Maintain accurate department records and process administrative documents.
-
Control shrink and cost through correct rotation, handling, and operational practices.
Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
-
Ensure compliance with workplace safety rules, retail labeling laws, federal/state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.

Ensure safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, and display areas.

Implement emergency procedures for equipment or software malfunctions.

Enforce compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
-
Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.

Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, performance metrics, and improvement opportunities.
