DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service & Sales

• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast, friendly service.

• Assist customers by offering product suggestions and answering product‑related questions.

• Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through phone, in‑store intercom announcements, and direct customer interaction.

• Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director as needed.

Store Operations & Merchandising

• Serve as the responsible leader for total store operations in the absence of the Store Director (see Store Director job description).

• Assist with planning daily operations and monitoring production processes following company procedures and profitability standards.

• Build grocery displays; rotate stock and remove outdated or spoiled products.

• Maintain cleanliness throughout the work area and department.

• Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays; assist in coordinating grocery sales promotions.

• Ensure merchandise is properly priced, fully stocked, rotated, and displayed to standard.

• Follow and uphold all departmental operational standards and requirements.

Leadership, Scheduling & Training

• Monitor employee productivity and performance.

• May schedule employees to ensure appropriate coverage and service levels.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening/closing procedures, Dairy, and Frozen.

• Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.

• Train employees on store policies, sales processes, and record‑keeping procedures.

• Enforce proper code dating practices for all products.

• Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.

Inventory, Ordering & Cost Control

• Prepare sales and inventory reports; support physical inventory conducted every 6 months.

• Control inventory to maintain product quantity, freshness, and quality according to division directives.

• Stock and rotate product following proper handling standards.

• Assist with ordering grocery products and maintaining inventory levels per division guidelines.

• Supervise reclamation processing and maintain organized, in‑stock conditions in the back room and all grocery areas.

• Control shrink and manage departmental costs effectively.

Safety, Equipment & Operational Standards

• Implement correct product preparation techniques.

• Operate equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.

• Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards are maintained in all work areas.

• Comply with company, state, and federal safety regulations and operational guidelines.

• Ensure all tasks are performed safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
