Main responsibilities Overall Operations
-
Ensure store and department goals align with division objectives.
-
Partner with Store Directors and Department Managers to drive consistent execution and performance.
-
Collaborate with the merchandising team to understand and execute category and sales strategies.
-
Provide coaching and support that strengthens department leadership capabilities and operational performance.
-
Clarify roles and responsibilities to build accountability across teams.
Financial Performance
-
Coach Department Managers on sales planning, ordering, inventory management, and labor scheduling.
-
Support store teams in using and interpreting technology and reporting tools to enhance performance.
-
Monitor operating costs and recommend improvements to maximize return on investment.

Review financial and operational reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Merchandising Excellence
-
Attend merchandising and sales execution meetings and collaborate on strategies to drive results.
-
Communicate merchandising expectations and ensure execution through store visits and follow‑up.
-
Monitor pricing, signing, shrink, product mix, rotation, sanitation, and overall presentation.

Evaluate store and competitor conditions from the customer perspective and recommend improvement opportunities.

Identify trends and innovations within the grocery industry to strengthen division performance.
People Leadership & Development
-
Consult with Store Directors and Department Managers on staffing, performance management, development, and engagement.

Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through open communication and coaching.

Partner with district trainers to ensure a strong pipeline of trained Department Managers.

Encourage use of training tools and skill‑building programs to strengthen team capabilities.

Support resolution of customer or employee concerns with professionalism and fairness.

Ensure stores maintain high standards in product quality, variety, cleanliness, and customer service.

Support implementation of company policies, procedures, and programs.

Maintain positive relationships with company teams, vendors, and community partners.

Ensure stores operate in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Educational requirements

Previous experience as an Assistant Store Director or Store Director is required.

Specialized knowledge of bakery or relevant product lines is strongly preferred.
Travel requirements

Ability to travel up to 90% of the time within the division.

Occasional overnight and weekend travel may be required.
Other requirements

Ability to work non‑traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.

Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, or reaching as needed in store environments.
