About the Role

We are looking for a candidate to become our new Ground Systems Software Architect (d/m/f) for national space projects within Airbus Space Engineering, located in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

You will be a member of the System Architecture & Lead Engineering Team with great team-players aside you. You will join a diverse and empowered team working on Space & Ground Systems Architectures, Secure Space Solutions, Systems Engineering, Development, Operations, Data Processing, and Performance Modelling.

As a Software Architect (d/m/f) for ground systems, you will be part of a team based in Immenstaad supporting our integrated national space mission project teams. Beside these operational activities, you will contribute to our transformation plan that has the vision to become national champion for high-performance Ground-Space Mission Solutions. You will work on concrete operational tasks while capitalising return of experience for future secure space solution improvement.

Tasks & Accountabilities

• Definition and design of Satellite Ground Systems: use of state-of-the-art methods (Scrum, Model-Based Systems Engineering)
• Requirements analysis and architecture definition for Ground Segments regarding: satellite monitoring and control, interfaces to ground stations, mission planning systems
• Design trade-offs and interface management: evaluation and optimization of design decisions, identification of internal and external interfaces, creation of interface documents (ICD)
• Specification of hardware and software elements as well as redundancy concepts
• Cost estimates for Ground Segment development and operation
• Support in system development, AIV (assembly, integration, verification)
• Contributions to proposals and studies as well as research and development activities
• Technical management for the procurement of software components
• Interdisciplinary collaboration: Space Segment Engineering, Performance Engineering, Operations Engineering

Desired Skills and Qualifications

Education and Professional Experience

• Completed university degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification
• More than 5 years of professional experience in software development (agile development, Linux environments, DevOps, Cloud platforms such as Kubernetes)

Technical Expertise

• Infrastructure design and integration
• Experience with Red Hat and Red Hat Open Shift is a plus

Adaptability and Willingness to Learn

• Interest and ability to quickly familiarize oneself with new technologies

Project Experience

• Experience working on classified projects (an advantage)
• Experience in managing technical stakeholders (an advantage)

Soft Skills

• Good communication and presentation skills
• Team-oriented work style

Language Skills

• Fluent German and English
• French language skills (a plus)

Aufgaben und Verantwortlichkeiten

• Definition und Design von Satellitenbodensegmenten: Nutzung modernster Methoden (Scrum, Model Based Systems Engineering)
• Anforderungsanalyse und Architekturdefinition für Bodensegmente bezüglich: Satellitenüberwachung und –Steuerung, Schnittstellen zu den Bodenstationen, Missionsplanungssystemen
• Design-Trade-Offs und Schnittstellenmanagement: Bewertung und Optimierung von Designentscheidungen, Identifikation interner und externer Schnittstellen, Erstellung von Schnittstellendokumenten (ICD)
• Spezifikation von Hardware- und Software-Elementen sowie Redundanzkonzepten

Qualifikationen

Ausbildung und Berufserfahrung
