About the Role

A vacancy for a Certification/Qualification Engineer has arisen within Airbus Helicopters in Marignane. You will join the Initial Airworthiness department. Within the Airworthiness Department (ETJ), the Section is responsible for leading the Airworthiness activities necessary to meet the development and deliveries milestones in the frame of Airbus Helicopters roadmap.

The mission of the Certification/Qualification Engineer is to define airworthiness activities in line with the roadmap, including also Teaming activities. This results in a challenging cross-functional position, including negotiating internally but also with Aviation Authorities worldwide, with great responsibilities, and a good overview on our new innovative products (civil and military), on systems and on our organisation.

Security Requirement: This position will require a security clearance or will require being eligible for clearance by the recognised authorities.

Key Activities

These activities mainly cover:

  • The identification of regulations applicable, and when not existing to propose and discuss with Aviation Authorities new/updated regulation, requirement or Means of Compliance
  • The definition of Operational authorization strategy and substantiation needs, to cover demonstration, development and serial flight test of all AH innovative products
  • The management of schedule and priorities for all these activities

Your Challenges

In direct contact with the Chief Engineer team, the different key contributors from the Design Office and Support Services, as well as with the Authorities (EASA, DGA, DGAC, etc.), your main missions will include:

A) Management of activities

  • Allocating and coordinating the activities, according to Chief Engineer expectations, with Technical Department
  • Managing priorities internally and with Authorities
  • Managing activities, including Teaming, while ensuring that harmonised processes are used
  • Following up and reporting on activities progress, fixing hard points, and ensuring on time completion of the activities
  • Contributing to the identification, definition and/or adaptation, as necessary, of the related organisation or process evolutions
  • Following up and contributing to regulation evolution in coordination with the Regulation & Policies Department

B) Airworthiness activities

  • Identifying and defining the applicable regulation (e.g. EASA Open/Specific/Certified category, FAA PART 107, ...)
  • Defining the logic, establishing corresponding Plan, and getting support from the Technical Department
  • Establishing Operational Authorisation files, for demonstrators, prototypes and serial aircraft, when applicable

Your Profile

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Educated to 5-year degree level in Engineering
  • At least 5 to 7 years of overall experience
  • Technical experience in Lead Function, technical support or in Project Management
  • Regulation, Certification/Qualification, Permit to Fly or equivalent and Rulemaking processes basic knowledge
  • Good relationship and communication skills in an international context
  • Synthetic, meticulous/structured way of working, dynamic and proactive
  • Team spirit, Result-oriented
  • French and English: negotiation level
