Primary Responsibilities:
Solves complex, high impact EHS program/ process design, implementation problems; coach and guide integration efforts into the different Environmental, Health, Safety systems / programs to ensure understanding, efficiency and collaboration between all disciplines.
Provides technical support to Agilent manufacturing facilities located in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and divisions for comprehensive risk assessments, exposure assessment, process hazard assessments, ergonomic assessments and EHS management program understanding and implementation; Work closely with Regional/Global EHS staffs to promptly address Agilent Global EHS regulatory and local specific EHS requirements and related issues.
Establish and cultivate an extensive network of intra-divisional support (engineering/validation, process maintenance, WPS, Quality, labs and manufacturing). Communicate project or program status and results to EHS and local operational management.
Provide EHS knowledge and services on existing and new programs for assigned location; Analyze EHS data and reports trends and results to WPS management. Recommend plans for correction of gaps and provides EHS input to address change (e.g. in plant Management of Change processes, or new Business/Country/Corporate programs).
Communicate effectively in written and oral formats with peers and others at varying levels within the organization. Present ideas well one-on-one, in small groups, and to larger audiences. Have the ability to convey meaning and importance of EHS topics to non-EHS personnel, and to influence others to take appropriate action based on such information.
Actively seek to continually improve communication and presentation skills; Ensure regular emergency response exercises and drills are conducted to ensure preparedness in any emergency. Assist and oversee development and implementation of emergency response procedures and evaluation plans.
Professional Skills, Qualifications and Deliverables:
- Implement effective EHS risk management methodologies for operations and projects at all scales, including but not restricted to new product/equipment introductions.
- Oversee, monitor, and participate in investigations and root cause analysis of workplace accidents and incidents, evaluating trends, and focusing on key improvements required to eliminate the same.
- Oversee the site’s emergency response team and emergency response plans; ensure related plans are optimized and effective; annual review of site’s business continuity plans
- Provide leadership and oversight to ensure appropriate applications, permits, data reports, records, and documentation are collected, prepared, submitted and maintained as required by governing/regulatory agencies.
- Effectively support the PSM program elements including: Incident Investigation, Process Hazard Assessment, Employee Participation, Program Auditing, and Management of Change. Oversee and participate in PHA and Hazops. Identifies key PSM issues impacting Boulder and Frederick sites (technical, regulatory, risk) and emerging regulatory and other risks.
- Actively advance environmental sustainability efforts including developing strategy, activities, projects aimed at achieving the company’s stated environmental sustainability goals.
- Develop and support internal communication strategies for key stakeholders that build and maintain awareness of PSM values, strategies, and performance.
- Provide technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes
- Evaluate employee safety programs to determine their adequacy including review of short- and long-term strategic safety goals, development needs, and the use of best practices.
- Manage site performance metrics related to EHS. Issues periodic reports for trend analysis of site metrics in support of maintaining EHS "Dashboard"
- Responsible for tracking and trending activities. Present trend conclusions.
- Revise/create EHS relevant SOPs.
- Oversee the evaluation of chemicals and materials for PPE requirements, handling and disposal.
- Strong floor presence at both Windsor and PEI sites
- Takes initiative and exhibits resourcefulness in problem solving; experienced in working in a collaborative team environment

Qualifications
- A minimum of 8+ years work experience in management and leadership positions in life sciences.
- Bachelor's Degree in Natural Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering with EHS focus
- 8+ years relevant experience in EHS, Regulatory/Compliance, manufacturing and laboratory in a Life Science, Pharmaceutical or Chemical analysis company.
- 3-5 years managing and leading EHS Programs
- Experience with regulatory authority.
- Experience in implementation of comprehensive EHS management systems
- Experience with hazard and risk assessments and experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in a cGMP manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Ergonomics, Machine Guarding, Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety Management, Process Hazard Management, Chemical safety management and Environmental affairs.
- Engineering control concepts and design with practical implementation experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills and proficiency with MS office.

This job has a full time weekly schedule.
The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $93,521.00 - $146,126.00/yr CAD plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
