About the Team and Our Impact

The IPP Mobile team is at the forefront of transforming how businesses accept payments. We're not just building software; we're empowering merchants to turn their everyday mobile devices into powerful payment terminals. Specifically, our focus is on the POS Mobile SDK, a core component enabling this innovative capability.

While the IPP Mobile team works broadly on our mobile payment solutions, the NYC1 sub-team has a unique and exciting focus: integrating with Adyen's own card reader. This isn't a virtual solution; it's a dedicated, Bluetooth-connected device that allows merchants to accept payments using all three entry modes: tap, dip, and swipe. This means becoming part of solutions that bridge the gap between physical hardware and our cutting-edge software.

Who We Are and What We Build

The NYC1 team is truly cross-functional and collaborative. As a backend engineer, you'll be joining a diverse group of talented individuals, including:

• Two iOS Engineers

• Two Android Engineers

• Two Backend Engineers (one of whom could be you!)

• A dedicated Product Owner

• A hands-on Team Lead

This setup ensures a holistic approach to problem-solving and a strong focus on delivering end-to-end solutions.

For our backend, we use the Tailor stack, leveraging our newest available technologies like Redis, Cassandra, and Kafka. Expect to dive deep into the world of EMV, collaborating closely with terminal and mobile developers. You'll gain unique insights into how our payment kernels operate, understanding the intricate details of secure transaction processing.

Our primary mission is to ensure scalability and reliability as we pave the way for 10x growth. We're tackling challenges like:

• Ensuring seamless, high-volume transactions: As more merchants adopt our solutions, our backend needs to handle exponentially increasing transaction loads without a hitch.

• Maintaining robust connectivity: We're constantly optimizing the stability and efficiency of the Bluetooth connection between mobile devices and our card readers, even in challenging environments.

• Delivering consistent performance: Regardless of the mobile device, network conditions, or payment method, we strive for a consistently fast and reliable payment experience.

• Building a future-proof architecture: Our solutions need to be adaptable and extensible to support new payment methods, card readers, and merchant needs as we continue to innovate.

As a backend engineer, you'll be instrumental in architecting and implementing the solutions that will allow our merchants to grow their businesses with confidence, knowing their payment infrastructure is rock-solid.
