About the role
Join the AIF India Foundation team as an AIML Applied Engineer. In this role, you will develop and grow the AI Assistant and agentic core for Adobe Express. These components support Assistant experiences across multiple products. The job centers on server-side tasks. You will build and deploy AI/ML models and microservices, integrate external AI/ML providers, and keep AI features for Express users dependable and scalable.

What you'll do
- AI Assistant development: Build, implement, and maintain server-side components of the Adobe Express AI Assistant (APIs, orchestration, state, tool use).
- Agentic core: Contribute to the agentic core that enables cross-Assistant interaction and multi-product workflows (routing, context, handoffs).
- Microservices: Develop and improve microservices that deliver AI Assistant and agentic functionalities to clients and other services.
- Third-party AI/ML integration: Deploy and manage AI/ML models and APIs (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, specialised models); oversee authentication, retry mechanisms, fallback strategies, and balance cost versus latency.
- Cloud & platform: Manage services within cloud environments (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure); use containers, orchestration, and platform tools for deployment and monitoring.
- Reliability & observability: Integrate logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting; participate in on-call duties and incident management.
- Collaboration: Work with product, build, and other engineering teams to ship features and improve AI quality and user experience.
Qualifications
Required
- 4–6 years of software engineering experience, including significant participation in applied AI/ML (model integration, deployment, or ML systems).
- BS/BTech (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong background in server-side development with one or more of the following: JavaScript, Typescript, Python, Node.js; knowledge of REST/gRPC and asynchronous patterns.
- Hands-on cloud experience (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure): compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
- Solid data structures, algorithms, and system building; comfort with concurrency, scaling, and fault tolerance.
- Experience with microservices: build, APIs, service boundaries, and deployment (e.g., containers, Kubernetes or similar).
Preferred
- Experience with agentic systems: agents, tool use, planning, or multi-step reasoning in production.
- Experience with LLM APIs (e.g., chat, completions, embeddings) and timely response handling at scale.
- Familiarity with MLOps practices: model versioning, A/B testing, canary releases, or feature stores.
- Experience with observability (e.g., Datadog, Prometheus, Open Telemetry) and on-call for production services.
- Experience in creative or build tools (e.g., Express, Creative Cloud) or conversational AI products.
- Experience with AI/ML in production: incorporating or launching models (e.g., LLMs, embeddings, classifiers); understanding of latency, efficiency, and failure modes.
- Experience integrating third-party AI/ML APIs or models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models, or internal model services).
