Job Title: Consultant – Data & AI

Department: Public Service Data & AI – Growth Network

Location: Mumbai, Bangalore, Gurgaon

Reporting To: Manager/Senior Manager Data & AI

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data & AI Consultant to lead and deliver client-facing projects focused on data strategy, AI adoption, and analytics transformation. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in data engineering, analytics, machine learning, stakeholder management, and project delivery. This role requires the ability to translate business problems into data-driven solutions and manage end-to-end project lifecycle while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement & Project Management

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of Data & AI consulting engagements.
  • Act as primary point of contact for client stakeholders and executives.
  • Understand business requirements and convert them into technical roadmaps.
  • Manage project planning, timelines, budgets, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive workshops, requirements sessions, demos, and client presentations.
  • Ensure project quality, governance, and successful business outcomes.

Data & AI Solutioning

  • Define data and AI strategy, architecture, and implementation approach.
  • Conduct data assessments, maturity analysis, and technology recommendations.
  • Design and develop data pipelines, data models, dashboards, or ML prototypes (as needed).
  • Support development and deployment of AI/ML models or generative AI applications.
  • Apply best practices for data governance, security, and responsible AI.

Technical Leadership (Hands-on or Oversight)

  • Guide technical teams (data engineers, analysts, ML engineers) in solution delivery.
  • Review architecture, data models, and AI model performance.
  • Support POCs and MVPs to validate solution feasibility.

Business Consulting & Value Delivery

  • Identify business problems and opportunities to drive data-enabled transformation.
  • Develop business cases, ROI calculations, and adoption frameworks.
  • Support change management, enablement, and AI literacy initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field is preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in Consulting / Data & AI / Digital Transformation.
  • Proven experience leading and delivering client projects.

Technical Skills

Experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Data platforms: Azure / AWS / GCP
  • Data engineering tools: Databricks, Spark, SQL, ETL tools
  • BI & analytics: Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Excel
  • AI/ML: Python (Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Py Torch/Tensor Flow optional), LLM applications
  • Databases & cloud storage: SQL/NoSQL systems
  • MLOps & DevOps (bonus): CI/CD, ML deployment pipelines
  • Mastery of project delivery frameworks: Agile / Scrum / Kanban

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication & stakeholder management
  • Business problem-solving and analytical mindset
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Client-facing experience and executive communication skills
  • Proactive, structured, and detail-oriented approach to delivery

Preferred

  • Certification(s): Azure/AWS/GCP Data/AI, Scrum Master, PMP
  • Experience with Generative AI solutions and LLM frameworks
  • Experience in consulting or digital transformation programs
