Overview

We are seeking an experienced .NET Technical Lead / Solution Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural oversight across delivery teams within the Kiwibank SAE programme. This role plays a critical part in shaping, governing, and delivering high-quality banking solutions using a modern product engineering approach.

You will work closely with client stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with enterprise and cloud-native architecture standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and architectural governance across multiple .NET delivery teams.

  • Drive delivery excellence, ensuring solutions meet quality, performance, and security standards.

  • Partner with client stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical designs.

  • Guide teams in designing and building cloud-native, microservices-based solutions.

  • Establish and promote best practices in API design, testing, CI/CD, and observability.

  • Mentor and motivate engineers, fostering a high-performing, agile engineering culture.

  • Support modernisation initiatives, including legacy .NET application uplift and cloud migration.

Core Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience with C#, ASP.NET, and .NET Core.

  • Proven experience designing and building REST APIs using a contract-first approach (OpenAPI / Swagger).

  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems.

  • Experience implementing application observability, including logging, monitoring, and metrics.

  • Cloud experience in Azure or AWS, with strong CI/CD practices.

  • Expertise in unit, component, and integration testing, including TDD techniques.

  • Strong agile delivery leadership skills with the ability to inspire and lead engineering teams.

Cloud & Platform Experience

Azure Cloud, including:

  • App Services

  • Azure Functions

  • Azure DevOps

  • API design and system integration in complex enterprise environments.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in the banking or financial services domain.

  • Exposure to large-scale enterprise transformation or regulated environments.
