Job Summary:

We are looking for a seasoned Cassandra / Data Stax Database Administrator (DBA) with over 6 years of experience in database administration. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in managing Apache Cassandra or Data Stax Enterprise (DSE) environments, along with strong proficiency in Linux systems and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.). You will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and scalability of distributed database systems in mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Cassandra or Data Stax clusters in production and non-production environments.
  • Perform data modeling, replication strategy design, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor and tune database performance using tools like Ops Center, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Automate operational tasks using shell scripts, Python, or Ansible.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues and performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to support application needs.
  • Ensure database security, compliance, and adherence to best practices.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation for production systems.

Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience in Database Administration, with at least 3+ years in Cassandra or Data Stax Enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of Cassandra architecture, internals, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix system administration.
  • Hands-on experience with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Ops Center, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Solid understanding of CQL (Cassandra Query Language) and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Data Stax tools like DSE Search, DSE Graph, and DSE Analytics.
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Relevant certifications in Cassandra, Data Stax, or Linux administration.

Additional Information:

  • The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Apache Cassandra.
  • This position is based at our Chennai office.
  • A 15 years full time education is required.
