Project Role: Quality Engineer (Tester)

Project Role Description: Enables full stack solutions through multi-disciplinary team planning and ecosystem integration to accelerate delivery and drive quality across the application lifecycle. Performs continuous testing for security, API, and regression suite. Creates automation strategy, automated scripts and supports data and environment configuration. Participates in code reviews, monitors, and reports defects to support continuous improvement activities for the end-to-end testing process.

Summary:

As a Custom Software Engineer (Python Tester), you will implement, and maintain automated tests to ensure quality, reliability, and performance of applications built on Python. You will collaborate with cross functional teams to translate requirements into robust test strategies, apply Agile practices, and deliver scalable, high performing solutions. You will drive quality through test automation, CI/CD integration, and continuous improvement, while troubleshooting defects and enhancing overall engineering efficiency.

• Roles & Responsibilities
• Work independently and evolve into an SME for Python test automation and quality practices.
• Actively contribute in design/review discussions influence testability and shift left quality.
• Analyze requirements/user stories and derive test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria.
• Build and maintain automated tests (unit/integration/API/UI) using Python frameworks.
• Implement best practices for coding standards, maintainability, and test design patterns (fixtures, parametrization, page objects, mocking).
• Troubleshoot and debug failures isolate root cause across code, data, and environment.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines ensure reliable, deterministic builds.
• Track and report quality metrics (coverage, defect density, flakiness, build health) drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with developers, Product Owners, and DevOps to remove impediments and ensure high quality increments.
• Document test scenarios, environments, and repro steps support UAT and production validations as needed.

Professional & Technical Skills:

• Must Have skills

• Proficiency in Python and testing frameworks: pytest (preferred) and/or unit test.

• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), story/acceptance criteria, and Definition of Done.

• Experience with API testing (e.g., requests, pytest plugins, Postman/Insomnia) and contract testing (e.g., Pact, schema validation).

• Solid knowledge of test automation patterns (fixtures, mocking with unittest.mock/pytest-mock, parametrization), assertions, and test data management.

• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps/GitHub/Jenkins).

• Ability to troubleshoot/debug failures and analyze logs, stack traces, and pipeline output.

• Good to Have skills

• UI test automation (Playwright/Selenium) and/or BDD (pytest bdd/Behave).

• Test coverage tools (coverage.py), static analysis/linters (flake8/pylint), formatting (black/isort).

• Containerized testing (Docker), environment management (venv/poetry).

• Database testing (SQL basics), test data seeding/fixtures.

• Performance testing basics (Locust/JMeter) and security testing awareness (OWASP top 10).

• Exposure to cloud CI runners and artifacts familiarity with feature flags and blue green/canary validations.

• API/UI: requests, Playwright/Selenium, Postman

• Quality: coverage.py, flake8/pylint, black/isort

• DevOps: Git, Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions/Jenkins, Docker

• Observability: Logging, Allure/HTML reports, junit XML for CI
