ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Summary:

Role: The Ethics & Compliance Manager plays a key role in supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Ethics & Compliance framework across the Vietnam affiliate. Working closely with the Associate Director and cross-functional teams, this role helps ensure that business operations align with global standards, local regulations, and internal policies.

The Manager is responsible for enhancing the affiliate’s Compliance Monitoring and Training Programs, managing and updating compliance policies and procedures, and contributing to integration projects by providing expertise in risk management, internal controls, and business processes. Additionally, the role serves as a point of contact for compliance-related inquiries, provides guidance across the organization, and supports data privacy initiatives and other strategic projects as assigned.

  • Reporting directly to: Associate Director, Ethics & Compliance, Vietnam
  • High frequency of interaction: Level Management, Region, Cross Function, Team and External Partners

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Lead the design and execution of the affiliate’s Ethics & Compliance strategy in alignment with global and regional objectives, primary support for pharmaceutical and medical devices and diagnostices devisions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the annual Compliance Risk Assessment and Monitoring Plan.
  • Apply data analytics to identify trends, assess risks, and enhance monitoring effectiveness.

Advisory & Business Partnership

  • Act as a business strategic partner to divisional commercial and cross-functional teams on compliance-related matters, including commercial programs, government interactions, sponsorships, and HCP engagements.
  • Evaluate proposed business initiatives to identify potential compliance risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Training & Awareness

  • Develop and lead comprehensive Ethics & Compliance training programs tailored to various stakeholder groups.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and compliance throughout the organization.

Monitoring, Investigations & Remediation

  • Lead or support investigations into potential compliance violations and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate with internal audit and external auditors to support compliance reviews and ensure timely resolution of findings.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Provide leadership and oversight for key affiliate and Global/Regional compliance projects.

Data Privacy & Special Projects

  • Support the deployment and review of data privacy programs in collaboration with regional and global teams.
  • Lead or contribute to special compliance projects as assigned by the Associate Director.

Travel Requirements

  • Domestic and international travel may be required to support affiliate operations and regional initiatives (estimated 20-25%).

MINIMUM BACKGROUND/ EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Above. Having at least 15 years’ experience in compliance, auditing, internal control, risk management (work as similar position is plus)
  • Ability to understand and analyze complex problems.
  • Able to work independently and strong at adaptability.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Stakeholder management: able to manage across functions as well as external parties e.g. suppliers.
  • Critical problem-solving ability. Capability in making decisions on the information available, which is not always in black and white.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Auditing and Internal Control, Business Management or related fields.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Ethics & Compliance, internal audit, risk management, or related areas, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to influence and collaborate across functions and with external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in English and Vietnamese.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics tools (Power BI is a plus).
