Abbott Nutrition – Cootehill
Our Cootehill facility is a global leader in infant nutrition manufacturing. Established in 1975, it’s the largest Abbott site worldwide for producing infant formula. Here, we create trusted brands like Similac and Gain, blending high-quality milk with essential nutrients to support healthy growth and development.

Every day, we process over 500,000 litres of milk sourced from approximately 1,000 dairy farms across Ireland and Northern Ireland—leveraging Ireland’s reputation for a clean, green environment. From Cootehill, our products reach families across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Canada.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Cootehill team as a Project Engineer. In this role, you’ll lead impactful projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the success of one of Abbott’s most strategic facilities. What You’ll Do

• Lead plant capital projects from start to finish, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
• Prepare project plans and work closely with key stakeholders to meet business needs and timelines.
• Collaborate with finance to develop Capital Improvement Plans and manage project costs effectively.
• Report monthly on project spend and progress, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Play a key role in validation programs, ensuring projects meet product specifications and performance indicators.
• Liaise with vendors and organize FAT testing and other project-related requirements.
• Present project updates to the engineering team and align with business dynamics.
• Develop technical designs, scope documents, and KPIs in line with corporate and site standards.
• Ensure all work complies with quality, operations, and EHS requirements.
• Deputize for the Project Engineering Manager when required and support Business Excellence initiatives.

• What We’re Looking For
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an engineering role, ideally in an automated manufacturing environment.
• Good understanding of packing equipment and manufacturing processes, with a willingness to learn and grow
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage projects effectively
• Enjoys working collaboratively and can build positive relationships with contractors, suppliers, and team members
• Proactive problem-solver with a focus on continuous improvement and finding practical solutions.
