Role Overview

The Commercial Excellence & Training Manager for Southeast Asia will lead strategic initiatives to enhance sales force effectiveness, drive commercial capability development, and implement impactful training programs across the region. This role will partner closely with cross-functional teams to optimize go-to-market strategies, improve customer engagement, and ensure the commercial team is equipped with the right skills, tools, and insights to succeed in a dynamic and diverse market.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Excellence

  • Use a strong understanding of sources of growth, geographic and channel dynamics, customer classification and segmentation to develop Commercial Excellence programs that drive business needs and support overall strategy in alignment with commercial priorities.
  • Develop and implement commercial excellence programs tailored to SEA priorities, while proactively managing execution barriers such as conflict, risk, and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain an effective sales force incentive process including incentive scheme design, sales target setting, and calculation.
  • Design and implement performance dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to monitor sales effectiveness and drive data-informed decisions.
  • Champion CRM adoption (e.g., Veeva) and ensure optimal utilization across the sales team.
  • Streamlining sales processes to reduce inefficiencies and improve the overall sales cycle.

Training & Capability Development

  • Develop and execute regional training roadmaps aligned with global learning strategies and SEA commercial needs.
  • Conduct learning needs assessments and design fit-for-purpose training programs using the 70-20-10 development model.
  • Partner with global and regional stakeholders to deliver competency-based learning solutions and tools. Examines performance gaps and their implications on the business to create training and non-training solutions to build priority skills.
  • Implement learning evaluation frameworks to measure training effectiveness and link development to performance outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with external training vendors and ensure quality, impact, and alignment with evolving business needs.
  • Build coaching capabilities across the commercial team and support on-the-job learning and application.
  • Champion and own training platform Allego system and ensure maintenance and adoption.

Strategic Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as a strategic advisor to SEA leadership on commercial capability and performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with marketing, regulatory, clinical, and market access teams to align commercial excellence and training initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional projects to support product launches, market expansion, and customer engagement strategies.
  • Influence and align stakeholders across SEA markets to ensure consistent execution and impact.

Critical Experiences

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing commercial excellence and training programs in a regional or multi-country context.
  • Strong track record in using data analytics to drive sales force effectiveness and strategic decision-making.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional initiatives involving sales, marketing, IT, and HR.
  • Demonstrated success in deploying CRM systems and optimizing sales processes.
  • Experience in consulting with senior leaders and influencing without direct authority.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or related field.
  • At least 10 years in commercial excellence, sales effectiveness, or training, with 5 years in frontline sales
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Southeast Asian languages is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, and culturally diverse environment.
