The Role

As an Equipment Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by ensuring production equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently. You will use your technical expertise to diagnose, repair, maintain, and improve equipment that directly supports the manufacture of life‑changing medical devices. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled individual who enjoys problem‑solving, hands‑on work, and collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to manufacturing equipment issues, diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs to minimise downtime
  • Perform preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades, ensuring all work is accurately documented within the AMIGO asset management system
  • Maintain backup equipment and manage spare parts to ensure production continuity
  • Support industrial, manufacturing, and quality engineers in the operation and optimisation of manufacturing equipment
  • Provide feedback to equipment development engineers, contributing ideas to improve equipment reliability and uptime
  • Assist with the setup of manufacturing assembly lines, including worktable construction and utility connections
  • Modify existing assembly lines or workstations to support changing production demands
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with Abbott's corporate, divisional, and site procedures, as well as safety and quality standards

Education & Experience

  • NFQ Level 6 qualification in a relevant technical or engineering discipline, plus 2+ years' relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing or quality‑driven environment is an advantage

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of general technical concepts, equipment fundamentals, and manufacturing systems
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematic drawings, and use precision tools and test equipment
  • Comfortable working with numerical, statistical data and computer software to solve non‑routine, moderately complex technical issues
  • Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to suggest improvements to existing processes
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise daily work to meet production schedules
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within cross‑functional teams
  • High attention to detail and commitment to compliance, confidentiality, and quality standards

Hours of Work

Friday, Saturday & Sunday night approx. midday until 1-2am

The Weekend Shift hours are:

  • Friday: 12:25pm – 01:25am
  • Saturday: 13:10pm – 02:10am
  • Sunday: 13:50pm – 02:50am
