The Opportunity

The Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for leading the tax compliance function for three legal entities in Mexico, ensuring accurate, timely, and complete fulfillment of all federal and local tax obligations. This role oversees the preparation and filing of tax returns, VAT refund processes, audits, interactions with tax authorities, and key internal controls. The position also acts as the primary backup to the Tax Manager and supports continuous improvement, process optimization, and risk management across the tax function.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead and supervise the Tax Compliance team, ensuring high quality deliverables, technical accuracy, and timely execution.
  • Manage the end-to-end tax compliance cycle: federal and state tax filings, reconciliations, workpapers, and responses to authorities.
  • Oversee VAT refund processes and ensure proper documentation, reconciliations, and follow up.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and manage communication with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Evaluate business processes to ensure tax compliance and provide technical guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and identify automation opportunities to enhance efficiency.
  • Maintain strong internal controls, documentation, and tax governance procedures.
  • Serve as backup to the Tax Manager, supporting strategic activities and ensuring business continuity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Mexican tax regulations (federal, state, VAT, DIOT, e‑invoicing).
  • 5 years of experience managing tax compliance for multiple legal entities, ideally in multinational environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP, tax platforms, and data tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with authorities, advisors, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, team development, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High integrity, compliance mindset, and attention to detail.
  • Tax professional with solid experience in corporate tax compliance.
  • Comfortable in fast‑paced environments, managing multiple deadlines.
  • Able to translate complex tax concepts into clear guidance for non‑tax stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organized, detail‑oriented, and committed to high‑quality standards.
  • Confident working with authorities and external advisors
