In this role, you will be directly involved in the design, calculation, and engineering of active parts of electrical machines for both new custom projects and revamping of existing units.
This position is ideal for someone interested in electrical machine design, analytical modelling, and the development of R&D calculation methodologies to improve product performance and design accuracy.
You will be mainly accountable for:
-
Perform electromagnetic calculations to support the sizing, performance evaluation, and optimization of electrical machines, including magnetic circuit analysis, flux distribution, torque estimation, and loss evaluation.
-
Execute thermal calculations, steady-state and transient, to assess heat dissipation, cooling performance, and temperature rise, ensuring compliance with operational and reliability requirements.
-
Develop and enhance R&D calculation tools and scripts (e.g., Visual Basic) to automate engineering workflows, support advanced machine modelling, and strengthen internal design methodologies.
-
Engineer and optimize active parts (stators, rotors, windings, magnetic cores) for complex custom machines and revamping projects, ensuring technical feasibility, manufacturability, and performance compliance.
-
Prepare and update 2D/3D CAD drawings, electrical schematics, layouts, and complete design documentation according to specifications and international standards.
-
Contribute to the definition and validation of the Bill of Materials (BOM) for electrical machines, ensuring alignment with technical requirements.
-
Participate in design reviews, technical risk assessments, and engineering workshops to continuously improve calculation methods and design processes.
-
Support customer meetings by presenting machine design concepts, calculation results, and engineering deliverables when needed.
Qualifications for the role

Master’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrotechnical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related discipline.
-
Strong understanding of electromagnetic and thermal phenomena in electrical machines and familiarity with analytical or numerical modelling techniques.
-
Proficiency with electrical design tools, 2D/3D CAD, Microsoft Office, and programming languages such as Visual Basic for engineering automation.
-
Passion for problem-solving, R&D activities, and continuous improvement of engineering methodologies.
-
Effective communication skills in Italian and English.
