Run What Runs the World:

At ABB, we help important industries outrun - leaner and cleaner.

Every person here makes that happen. By rethinking, rewiring, and improving, we combine the world’s best minds and technologies to elevate performance to a whole new level.

Because at ABB, progress is an expectation - for you, your team, and the world. As a Supplier Quality & Development Engineer, you’ll take on challenges that transform industries and drive innovation. We give you the market-leading expertise, technology, and opportunity, and you own the challenge to make an impact that matters.

It won’t always be easy. Growing takes grit. Innovating takes the courage to try, fail, learn, and succeed. But at ABB, you’ll never run alone.

Your Role: Own the Challenge/Take on the Journey

  • Supplier Qualification: Drive supplier qualifications to ensure the supply base is fully qualified and compliant. Conduct audits and assessments, and drive gap-closure activities. Approve capable suppliers and reject incapable suppliers. Onboard desirable suppliers.

  • Supplier Production Part Approval: Execute supplier manufacturing readiness via Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) guidelines. Approve supplier material, process, project and ultimately part. Note: requires close coordination with other functions and experts like engineering and global supply chain.

  • Issue Resolution and Claims: Operationally lead and execute supplier poor performance with non-confirming material, and un-timely / late deliveries. For supplier-fault issues, prepare a claims case for the responsible buyer to support vendor recovery.

  • Supplier Development: By Lean6Sigma and risk-based methodologies, identify needed improvements with supplier capabilities to ensure conformance with Customer and ABB requirements. Perform assessments to establish a fact-based baseline of current state. This via using standardized assessments and when necessary build customized versions. Establish development plans for identified areas based on the assessments/ supplier data and carry out the development plan with necessary resources from supplier and ABB. Perform risk mitigation activities on request from the organization. Coach and lead team members involved in the development activities.

What it takes to Run what runs the world
