This Position reports to:

Head of Media Relations & Crisis Communications:

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop communications plans, policies, standards, materials, and content in around key areas in crisis and external communications to increase the brand awareness and reputation of ABB, globally, among external stakeholders. Each day, you will provide leadership and best practices in corporate communications building on ABB's decentralized operating model.
The work model for the role is: hybrid

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with ABB’s businesses and corporate teams to ensure crisis communications is managed according to best practices and in line with ABB’s decentralized operating model
  • Act as Group communications lead during crisis and issues situations including coordinating and developing messaging, toolkits across internal and external stakeholders, provide ongoing support to businesses and functions during incidents
  • Develop and maintain robust crisis communications tools, protocols and lead trainings for global ABB communications community
  • Monitor emerging issues and reputational risks, providing timely guidance and recommendations; partner with the team on media monitoring and insights
  • Advance executive positioning by developing communications content, messaging and talking points
  • Manage and contribute to selected projects in the areas of media relations, financial communications and speaking opportunities for Executives and/or leadership team members.
  • Collaborate with other teams within ABB Communications as well as key other functions to ensure communication excellence, relevance, and consistency between internal and external messages, and across all communication channels.
  • Coordinate efforts to support the team’s development journey, such as knowledge sharing and learning opportunities in the fields of media relations, financial communications and executive communications.

Key Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 8-10 years experience in corporate communications, media relations, crisis and external communications in a global corporation.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with external stakeholders including the media, as well as senior management
  • Demonstrable ability to manage challenging situations in a complex environment where priorities shift quickly
  • Proven experience in building crisis communications and issues management plans.
  • Experience in upskilling communications team around crisis communications and issues management.
  • Effective project management skills with the capacity to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strategic and solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to connect the dots across different projects and functions.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.

Native level English language skills; other languages are also appreciated
