ABB's Distribution Solutions Division facilitates the efficient and reliable distribution, protection and control of power by improving electric power quality while strengthening the resilience of the grid. The Division offers segment-specific products and solutions that largely serve utilities, industry and infrastructure segments, often providing the requisite medium-voltage link between high-voltage transmission systems and low-voltage users. With ABB Ability™ enabled connected solutions at its core, the offering includes medium-voltage air- and gas-insulated switchgear (1 to 66 kilovolts), indoor and outdoor circuit breakers, reclosers, fuses, contactors, relays, instrument transformers, sensors, motor control centers, as well as low-voltage switchgear for the ANSI standard markets.
Your Role and Responsibilities
This Position reports to: Production Manager Work model: #
You will support production lines by driving continuous improvement, process stabilization, and waste elimination, acting as a facilitator between Production and support functions (Quality, Industrialization, Maintenance, HSE, IT/MES). This role directly contributes to performance in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity, supporting both short-term operational activities and structured improvement initiatives.
In this role, you'll help run what runs the world by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact, as you will be accountable for:
Operational Production Support
- Supporting production continuity by troubleshooting issues, coordinating with key functions, and contributing to daily line meetings
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Driving Lean initiatives through 5S implementation, Kaizen coordination, and Gemba-based process observation
Industrialization and Process Changes
- Supporting industrialization activities including new product phase-ins, equipment start-ups, layout changes, and process optimization
Digitalization and Systems
- Enhancing digital systems by improving data collection processes, contributing to MES logic updates, and analyzing data for operational decisions
Projects and Training
- Contributing to cross-functional projects, delivering training, and promoting Lean culture across production teams
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical, Management, Automation, or Biomedical Engineering
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, standard work, waste reduction/MUDA)
- Strong process analysis and structured problem-solving skills (e.g. 5 Whys, Ishikawa)
- Yellow Belt certification preferred
- Up to 2 years of experience in a similar environment (lean production, manufacturing, industrial engineering) is a plus
- Advanced knowledge of the Office package; Power BI is preferred
- Demonstrating strong shop floor orientation, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with production teams and cross-functional stakeholders
- Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken
