Your role and responsibilities
As an Application Engineer you’ll shape high‑quality engineering solutions from design and documentation to testing, installation, and commissioning support. You’ll work closely with project teams to finalize secure‑by‑design concepts, resolve technical challenges, and contribute to customer proposals. Along the way, you’ll apply design‑for‑excellence principles, verify compliance with standards, and share best practices across projects.

This role supports the ABB Robotics in Latvia, working closely with project management, supply chain, manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and service teams.
You will be mainly accountable for:

Design, develop, and deploy robotic applications for industrial and commercial environments

Integrate robots with PLCs, vision systems, conveyors, and other automation components

Program and optimize robotic systems for performance, safety, and reliability
-
Support commissioning, testing, and on-site troubleshooting

Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver complete automation solutions

Provide technical documentation and user training

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field

Experience working with PLCs and fieldbus systems
-
Hands-on experience with industrial robots is desirable
-
Solid understanding of robotics safety standards is desirable
-
Proficiency in robot programming languages and development environments and the ability to read, interpret, and create electrical and mechanical schematics is desirable
-
Skills in robot offline programming, simulation, vision systems, sensors, and basic CAD tools is desirable
-
Strong problem-solving, clear communication, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple projects
-
Fluency in Latvian and English allows for seamless collaboration with stakeholders
While the base salary is based on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, it starts at 2200€ gross, with additional yearly bonus.
