Job Summary:

The person hired for the position of Senior Product Development Engineer, who will support the projects of Bonding & Sealing platform from 3M China Automotive Lab, which would be covered to liquid adhesive, PSA foam tape, meanwhile, good understanding relevant products & technologies application on automotive industry. The person hired for this position will have responsibility for new products development and commercialization, critical manufacturing processes improvement with expectations of optimal safety, quality, and cost reduction. This position requires an individual with strong professional background, cross function collaboration, and leadership skills, who is a good decision maker with the ability to collect facts and facilitate good projects decisions.

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to the following):

• Leading new products development, commercialization, critical manufacturing process improvement, and/or introduce new technologies to the automotive market.
• Prototyping and making unique products with strong value proposition using 3M technology, customer and market understanding, competitive product knowledge.
• Creating intellectual property and strategy to establish a sustainable competitive advantage.
• Working with cross function local/global teams for knowledge and technology sharing, developing strong working partnerships/networks internal the 3M automotive division organization (China & Global), 3M Corporate Labs and other external groups
• Supporting Manufacturing programs of CMP to have major impact for performance, quality and cost

Basic Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or above from an accredited university in Polymer Material Science and Technology or Organic Chemistry.
• 5yrs of organic chemistry or polymer material formulating and process experiences.
• Rich experience in new product development and innovation
• Proactively communicating project direction and status to appropriate personnel, teamwork spirit

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on tape products, Pressure Sensitive Adhesives, liquid adhesives formulation development.
• Experience on new product development process (NPI) and Change Management Process (CMP)
• Fluent oral and written English
