Job Description:

Job Title: Application Specialist – Functional Bonding Materials

Job Summary: The individual selected for this role will be instrumental in advancing the development of functional bonding materials within the 3M China Electronics Lab. The focus will be on delivering high-value, differentiated solutions involving UV-activated bonding tapes and structural bonding/aesthetic adhesives to key customers in the electronics markets, including consumer electronics, automotive, and IoT sectors.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide support to Key Account teams through in-depth technical expertise in functional bonding materials and related applications.
• Drive the growth of bonding/aesthetic material applications by converting competitive products and developing new applications.
• Actively participate in local and global New Product Introduction (NPI) projects by offering Voice of Customer (VOC) insights and technical requirements specific to bonding materials.
• Manage multiple customer projects effectively, focusing on bonding/aesthetic solutions.
• Deliver product and application training on bonding/aesthetic materials to both internal and external audiences.
• Collaborate with Key Account teams to replicate successful bonding/aesthetic application implementations.

Basic Qualifications:

• Master's degree or higher in Materials, Mechanical, Polymer, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in electronics materials and bonding/aesthetic applications.
• Proven ability to lead and drive customer projects independently, with a focus on bonding solutions.
• Experience in managing customer complaints related to electronics materials.
• Strong skills in global teamwork and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in consumer electronics or automotive sectors is preferred.
• Familiarity with tapes, adhesives, electronics materials and applications.
• Experience in UV-activated bonding tapes, liquid adhesives, aesthetic materials and structural bonding adhesives application development is a plus.
• Proficiency in both oral and written English.

Location: Shanghai, 3M R&D Center, China

Travel: May include up to 70% domestic and international travel.
