Senior Administrator - Windows Azure IaaS, Terraform

Job Summary

Lead Fin Ops SME with 10+ years of experience in the below:

• Apptio Cloudability Administration & Insights

• Own Cloudability setup, data ingestion, tag normalization, anomaly alerts,

• Dashboarding & Reporting (Azure + Cloudability) - Build real-time dashboards and executive reports using Azure Cost Management and Apptio Cloudability to visualize trends, KPIs, and risks.

• Education & Cultural Enablement

• Run training and enablement to embed Fin Ops practices, tooling literacy (Azure Cost Management & Cloudability), and shared accountability.

• Monitor & Analyze Costs

• Track Azure cost and usage trends using Azure Cost Management to identify spend anomalies, cost drivers, and usage patterns.

• Budgeting, Forecasting & Alerts

• Set budgets and configure alerts to proactively notify stakeholders of potential overruns and forecast drift.

• Rightsizing & Resource Optimization

• Right-size VMs, databases, and PaaS services based on utilization and performance benchmarks to eliminate over/under-provisioning.

• Reserved Instances & Commitments

• Leverage Azure Reservations and Savings Plans; analyze commitment coverage and utilization to maximize discount benefits.

• Cleanup Orphaned Resources

• Identify and retire unused, idle, or temporary resources (e.g., dev/test after-hours shutdowns) to reduce waste.

• Cost Allocation & Chargeback

• Design tagging standards and reporting to allocate costs to teams, projects, and products; support internal chargeback/showback.

• Governance & Policy Enforcement

• Define and enforce cost-aware policies (SKU selections, configuration baselines, sustainability goals) through Azure Policy and governance.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Collaborate with finance, engineering, product, and leadership to align spend with business objectives and agreed SLAs.

• Steering Committee Participation

• Contribute to/lead a Fin Ops steering committee for decision-making, accountability, and conflict resolution across stakeholders.

• Cost Forecasting & Scenario Modeling

• Model consumption scenarios, growth, and unit economics to support annual plans, quarterly forecasts, and business cases.

• Fin Ops Process Maturity & Iteration

• Operate a continuous Fin Ops cycle (inform → optimize → operate), baseline KPIs, and mature processes over time.

Skill Requirements

1. Proficient In Azure Iaas Services And Windows Server Management.

2. Strong Understanding Of Terraform For Infrastructure Automation.

3. Excellent Troubleshooting And Problem-Solving Skills In A Technical Support Environment.

4. Familiarity With Incident Management Processes And Slas.

5. Strong Communication Skills For Effective Collaboration With Technical Teams And Customers.

Other Requirements

1. Optional But Valuable: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
